Arrest and Prosecute Student-Goons!

Egerton University has been closed indefinitely. This came as a result of a night of complete anarchy and bloated greed. An actual state of anomie as students turned goons and robbed innocent traders within the varsity premises, burned down what they could not take and sat by watching; congratulating their accomplishments.

The traders only crime was providing vital and affordable services to the students populace of Egerton University. Their shops’ greatest mistake was being situated at the varsity CBD! They could not offer free services to Exam-Phobic goons with ulterior motives.

The constitution provides for the enjoyment of one’s rights as long as they do not inhibit those of another. The events on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 6th was totally WRONG. Not only was it immoral, but unethical in a civilised society.

Just as I said elsewhere, students unions are not tools for goons to ply their trade. Students unions are instruments of justice and social equality for and amongst students. A comrade is always right; until he becomes wrong.

It is completely misplaced for police officers to misuse their mandate. Allegations are not necessarily pointers to culpability. They may as well be completely misplaced as was the case with the Students leadership of Egerton University, who had to spend the night in a police cell for misplaced allegations. It makes one wonder just how successful the police reforms have been so far!

If property is destroyed, arrest the vandals. If property is burnt, arrest the arsonists. And do the same for looters who see opportunity in profiting from that which is not theirs. That, is the LAW: APPLY IT.
